REBUILDING AFTER THE FIRE
In July 2025, fire destroyed the home of Mrs Dikeletsane Nkgotwe in Doornkop, Soweto. Her family has already rebuilt the shell — what's left is what turns walls into a home again.
WHAT HAPPENED
The fire took everything inside the house. In the weeks after, extended family members pooled what they had and started rebuilding — the home now stands again with walls, windows, doors and a roof.
What's left is the part that makes a house liveable: water and plumbing, electricity, tiles, a ceiling, and paint. That's what this appeal is for.
These photographs were taken in the aftermath of the fire. Current photos of the rebuild, and the exact site address, are on their way from the family and will be added here as soon as we have them.

WHAT'S STILL NEEDED
The structure is back. These are the trades and materials that turn it into a home the family can actually live in.
