Volunteers packing hygiene and relief parcels at a table

GIVE A SATURDAY, NOT A SALARY

You don't need money, a qualification, or a car. You need a few hours and a willingness to carry things. That's genuinely it — and it's the difference between thirty parcels packed and three hundred.

WHAT YOU'D ACTUALLY DO

Pick whatever fits you. Most volunteers end up doing a bit of everything, and nobody is put anywhere they said they'd rather not be.

PACK & SORT

Sorting donated clothing and blankets, building food parcels, making up hygiene packs. Indoors, seated, chatty. The easiest way to start and the job we always need most hands for.

2–4 hours · no experience

DISTRIBUTION DAYS

On site in Kya Sand handing out parcels, managing the queue, serving hot food. Physical, sometimes emotional, and the day most volunteers say changed how they see the city.

Half a day · on your feet

COMMUNITY DAYS

Running games and jumping castles for the children while their parents collect relief. If you're good with kids, this is where you're worth the most.

Half a day · good with kids

SKILLS FROM HOME

Photography, social media, spreadsheets, grant applications, driving a bakkie on collection day. Real gaps we currently fill badly, from wherever you are.

Flexible · remote possible

TUTORING & MENTORING

Homework support and mentorship for children we're keeping in school. Needs consistency more than expertise — the same face every week matters more than the subject.

Weekly · ongoing

TRADES & BUILD

Carpenters, electricians, plumbers, welders: our modular housing pilot and post-fire rebuilds need you specifically. Tell us your trade and we'll call when it's your week.

FROM HERE TO THERE

Four steps, no interview panel, no forms in triplicate.

You sign up

The form below takes under a minute. Tell us when you're free and anything you're good at.

We WhatsApp you

A real person, usually within two working days, with the date and place of the next thing you could join.

You come once

No commitment beyond that day. Come, see what it's like, decide afterwards whether it's for you.

You choose your rhythm

Some volunteers come weekly, some twice a year when we call for a big drive. Both are genuinely useful.

WHAT NOBODY PUTS ON THE POSTER

It's dusty, it's often hot, and you'll go home tired.
Some days are heavy. You will meet people who have just lost everything.
Plans move. Weather, access and need all change on the day.
You'll never be sent anywhere alone, and never anywhere we wouldn't go ourselves.
Wear closed shoes, bring water and a hat. We'll tell you the rest beforehand.

If that hasn't put you off, you're exactly who we're looking for.
